about me

who am i?

I’m a graphic designer with 13 years of experience across print and digital media. Five years ago, I discovered a passion for internet marketing and have since specialized in designing and developing emails and website pop-ups that align with brand goals and drive customer engagement. My work spans a variety of campaign types, including Welcome Series, Abandonment, Post-Purchase, and Transactional messages. I’m skilled in testing and troubleshooting to ensure emails render beautifully across devices, email clients, and light/dark modes. I’m always exploring what’s possible with email design—staying current with trends while also aiming to create them.

Beyond email, I also bring experience as a product designer, having contributed to the evolution of an internet marketing platform. This role deepened my understanding of the foundations of user interface and user research, as well as the broader digital landscape, including mobile marketing channels like SMS, MMS, RCS, as well as app push and web push notifications—tools that are increasingly vital in today’s multi-channel strategies.

When i’m not immersed in the world of design, i’m typically playing video games, diving into a new book, or napping with my 2 cats Calypso and Cleo.

Led design onboarding for large high-priority brands…

“Shakena was tasked with taking on more difficult accounts. Summersalt and SharkNinja were great examples. Summersalt came through as a high priority account when the Senior Design Lead was out of the office, which required Shakena to own the design process without the support of a seasoned designer. She accepted the challenge and successfully fulfilled their requests and questions. They were happy and the projects were completed within the escalated schedule. The Project manager on the team complimented her involvement: ‘I am so impressed with Shakena. She really took charge of Summersalt and was a shining star!’

Before they switched gears to having us provide creative, Shakena quickly created a client facing document which provided instructions on how to build their own popup creative. While they ended up not needing this document, it is something we now have available for future reference.”

— Erienne T., Manager of Implementation Services

“There was a quick turnaround for the escalated items that came in on a Friday morning, Shakena really approached the task with not only her in mind, but how it would impact the testing process and made sure to get the work to us in batches and notify each time something was ready. Her detail in her notes made it so much easier for me to test a client that I wasn’t familiar with and the thought did not go unnoticed.”

— Courtney C., Senior Quality Assurance Specialist

Proactively identified and implemented process improvements…

“Shakena has continued to improve the team's’ processes: She improved the teams process by making incredible notes which helps the people around her understand what she did or needs. Examples can be seen in what she mentions, but also through her leaving notes in XD files for other designers outlining requirements for Dynamic Content (DCC). Her thoroughness proves that she genuinely cares about how the work is being completed.”

— Erienne T., Manager of Implementation Services

“Shakena has participated in ways to improve efficiency across the department. She worked on email templates that could decrease the amount of time designing and building emails. This will allow the team to get through work quicker, improving timelines and ultimately increasing client satisfaction. Shakena single handedly created numerous high quality templates; her efforts were outstanding and will provide the team with a lot of options to pick from.”

— Erienne T., Manager of Implementation Services

Mentored and trained designers…

“Shakena acts as a mentor to her fellow designers: She gave a designer a tutorial of Web Push to make sure they are aware of the solution and continuously double checks their work to make sure it’s of the highest quality. Shakena provides guidance and suggestions on what the designers can do differently.

She makes sure other teams are okay and steps in to cover work as needed. There were a few times the other team was struggling with design or builds, and she stepped in to provide support. Her efforts were appreciated by a fellow designer: ‘Thank you for helping in the development of Elie Tahari! You did a fabulous job creating the product borwse template with majestic commenting. I’m super thankful!’

She has brough up training ideas to the Principal Graphic Designer that could further help herself or other designs: How messages look in mobile, all campaign designs need to be cohesive especially when multiple people are working on a client, and handoff notes to QC contain information they need specially when things are out of the ordinary.”

— Erienne T., Manager of Implementation Services

“Thanks so much for letting me shadow while you updated modals with the additional web push sign up screens. It was very helpful, and good to know for future requests that may come our way.”

— Harry T., Senior Graphic Designer

“Thanks for taking the time to talk me through some of the things you are working on and how [the teams differ from each other] ahead of our transitions to our new positions. You made me feel confident and more prepared to take on my first week. Best of luck on your move over to Product Designer! You are talented, organized, and motivated and I know you are going to be great!!!!”

Tested and troubleshot emails across major email clients and devices…

“Shakena offers her time when tricky client situations come up and she has to work with the team to troubleshoot the issues. She has worked through many weeks of challenging accounts and asked clarifying questions to make it go smoothly. There were a few instances that required her to switch her focus and turn a project around in a short amount of time.”
